ApiaryLife at The Conference Board: Igniting Change in New York

Last week we had the chance to spend time with HR and benefits leaders from around the world at The Conference Board’s “Igniting Change” event in New York.
The theme landed powerfully with the work we do every day at ApiaryLife – helping organisations support their people through some of the hardest moments in life. It was brilliant to see how many conversations naturally turned to life events, and to the practical realities of supporting employees and their families when things go wrong as well as when things go right.
A particular highlight was our panel session, “Supporting Your Workforce Through Death in Service”, with our founder, Katie Lynch, in conversation with two of our clients:
- Michelle Gregor, Global Head of Talent and Experience at DRW
- Katie Scheininger, Director of Benefits at Apollo
Together, they shared how their organisations have navigated death in service – what’s worked, what they’d do differently, and why it matters to have a clear, compassionate approach before the worst happens.
The discussion sparked thoughtful questions from the room and confirmed what we already knew from our work: the vast majority of employers there – around 80% – had experienced a death in service. It’s one of the hardest moments any HR or benefits team will face, and one of the most impactful ways we’re able to support clients, employees and their families.
Thank you to everyone who travelled to attend, joined the conversation, and stopped by to learn more about how we work. We left New York with a real sense of momentum – and even more determination to make sure no organisation has to face these moments alone.
